Terminate

A respondent can terminate or screen out of the questionnaire if they do not qualify. This will route them out of the survey. You can assign as many terminates as needed throughout different places in the survey.

  1. Click on the Add Questions tab
  2. Select where to insert the terminate from the drop down menu on the bottom left corner of the screen
  3. Click the “Go” button
  4. Select Terminate from the Type drop down menu
  5. Enter a Quota Name (Required)
    1. This creates a terminate quota in your reports so you can keep track of how many people terminated at specific questions
    2. NOTE: The quota name that gets generated will have a TERM_ preceeding the quota name you give
      1. For example, if you create a terminate quota called no_qualify the terminate quota generated will be TERM_NO_QUALIFY
  6. Enter text in the Message to Terminated Respondent field (Optional)
    1. This text will appear to the respondent
    2. If no text is entered, the default text from your terminat.tmpl will be used
    3. You can add HTML to the question text
    4. Click Start Highlighting
    5. Highlight the text that you want to add html to
    6. A menu will display to choose the type of html to add
    7. Click the “Save” button
    8. Click Stop Highlighting when all html has been added
    9. Click the “Clear HTML” button if you want to clear it
  7. Enter a Status Code to assign that piece of sample and force it to become resolved (Required)
    1. You can choose any number between 16-70 that hasn’t already been used
    2. A listing of used statuses will appear on the bottom of the screen
    3. The composer will check for duplicates and present an error if duplicate status codes exist
  8. Select the Allow Backup check box if you want to allow the respondent to be able back out of the terminate (Optional)
    1. The default is not to allow backups at these types of questions
  9. Click the “Update Question Details” button to save your question

IMPORTANT: You will need to use the Logic Editor to put a filter on terminate questions. You will not be able to Write out the QPX if a filter is not defined.   The filter applied can only be based on a question that already exists. For more information on adding logic, refer to Add Logic.
