Add New User
When creating a new user, you can assign custom access at different levels. You can create a custom profile or assign a predefined profile type. Each profile type has it’s own security access associated with it. You can assign a password of your choice or use LDAP/Active Directory Authentication (see Edit Company for setup) for user login.
- Click on the Admin Tab
- Click Add New User
-
Select a Security Profile Type from the drop down menu
-
Enter User Specific Details; i.e. First Name, Last Name, Email, Username and Password or use LDAP/AD Authentication
- Fields in blue are required
-
Assign Clients to the new User
-
If creating a Custom Security Profile, select which custom profile security settings you want to assign by clicking the ‘+’ key and checking the capabilities you would like to assign
-
Click the “Save User Details” button
There is a password complexity check to show how weak or strong a password is when a password is entered for a new user. It will say Too Short and display in red if the password is weak. It will change to Strong and display in green if the password is strong. The password must be greater than 3 characters. The function assigns a score to the password entered based on whether it contains a mix of lower case characters, upper case characters, numeric characters and symbols. The more variation in the characters used higher the score and the stronger the password.
A password that is abc – this will display as a weak password in red.
A password that is @bC!1298Mn0$&Z – this will display as a strong password in green.
There is a conference code generated upon adding a new user. This is used for the Survox Dialer Audio Monitoring where each user has their own unique conference ID. This ID will display when a user clicks on Manage – Monitoring and Stations – Audio Monitoring and will need to be entered before monitoring can begin. Each time a new code is generated, the old code for the user is disabled. A user will need to log out and login again if a new code is generated.
If using LDAP/AD Authentication, the username must match a username from the URI database entered during the setup. The password field in the Console will not be used in this option. This option will only be available when adding new users if LDAP/AD Authentication information is supplied during Adding Company or Edit Company options under Admin.
Assigning Clients to a User
By default, the user you add will NOT be assigned to any clients or projects unless specified. To assign a client to a user, highlight the available client located in the box on the left under Available Clients. Then click the right arrow to move the client to the box under Assigned Clients. To assign multiple clients, hold the ctrl key and left click to highlight each client. Then, click the right arrow to move the clients to the box under Assigned Clients. The user will now have access to the client(s) specified as well as all of the projects within each client assigned.
To deselect Assigned Clients, highlight the assigned client located in the box on the right under Assigned Clients. Then click the left arrow to move the client back to the box under Available Clients.
Choosing a Security Type
When adding a new user, you can also select a Security Type from the drop down menu. The predefined security type you choose will already have all of the functions assigned. Security types are typically created for people that need like capabilities; i.e. supervisors, clients, programmers etc. For example, if you have to add 10 new users as supervisors, it is easier to create and select a supervisor security type where you only have to assign the capabilities once. Then, when adding each supervisor, you can assign them to the supervisor security type.
Custom Security Profile Settings
If assigning a custom user profile, you will need to specify which functions you want to make accessible to the user you are creating. For example, you may want to only give a client access to Data Analysis reports. You can customize these settings when adding a new user. Simply select the functions you wish to include. Click “Check All” to choose all the capabilities in a category. Click “Un-Check All” to deselect all capabilities in a category. When finished, click the “Save User Details” button.
The following Survox Console functions can be specified when assigning a custom profile:
