Project Setup & Programming

Create projects, build questionnaires, manage sample and project files,
configure survey logic, and prepare studies for testing and deployment.

Build Your Survey Project

Survox provides a complete project environment for setting up and
programming survey studies. From the initial project configuration through
questionnaire development, sample preparation, testing, and deployment,
the tools needed to prepare a study remain connected within the same
Survox workflow.

  • Create and configure new survey projects
  • Build questionnaires using Survey Composer
  • Program advanced surveys using Survent
  • Manage project files and supporting resources
  • Load and manage respondent sample
  • Configure survey logic, quotas, and validation
  • Test projects before deployment
  • Prepare projects for Web, phone, or mixed-mode data collection

Create a Project

Every Survox study begins with a project. The project provides the
environment used to organize questionnaire files, sample, configuration,
data collection, and reporting.

Define the Study

Create the project and configure the basic settings needed for the study.
Project access can also be managed so the appropriate users can work
with the project.

Organize Project Resources

Keep questionnaire files, sample, supporting files, and project
configuration associated with the same Survox study.

Prepare for Data Collection

Once the project is created, use Project Setup to build or upload the
questionnaire, prepare sample, test the study, and configure the project
for deployment.

Coming Soon

The upcoming Survox release expands questionnaire development with an
updated Survey Composer, a reusable library of questions and widgets,
improved sample loading, and AI-assisted survey programming from
Word documents.

Survey Composer

Survey Composer provides a visual environment for creating and editing
questionnaires without requiring every survey element to be programmed
directly in Survent syntax.

Build Questionnaire Structure

Create questions and organize them into the pages and flow required for
the respondent experience.

Edit Questions and Responses

Configure question text, labels, response lists, and other questionnaire
properties directly within the Composer interface.

Manage Survey Flow

Arrange questions, control page structure, and add the logic required
to guide respondents through the questionnaire.

Reusable Questions and Widgets

The updated Survey Composer introduces a library of reusable questions
and survey widgets, making it easier to build questionnaires consistently
and reduce repetitive setup.

AI-Assisted Survey Programming

Survey specifications often begin as Word documents. Survox provides
an AI-assisted workflow designed to help move those specifications into
a programmed survey more quickly.

Start with a Word Document

Provide the survey specification in a Word document containing the
questions, response options, and questionnaire structure.

Generate the Initial Survey

A custom-trained Survox AI agent interprets the survey document and
creates the initial programmed questionnaire structure.

Review and Refine

The generated survey can then be reviewed and refined using Survox
questionnaire tools before testing and deployment.

This workflow is designed to reduce the amount of manual setup required
to move from a survey specification to a working questionnaire.

Advanced Programming with Survent

For projects that require direct programming or more advanced survey
control, Survent provides access to the underlying questionnaire
programming environment.

Advanced Survey Logic

Program complex branching, conditional logic, validation, quotas,
calculations, and other study-specific behavior.

Direct Questionnaire Control

Survent provides detailed control over questionnaire behavior for
projects that require functionality beyond standard visual editing.

Flexible Development Workflow

Projects can use the programming workflow that best fits their
requirements, whether that involves visual questionnaire development,
direct Survent programming, or a combination of tools.

Sample Setup and Management

Sample can be prepared and managed as part of the same Survox project
used for questionnaire programming and data collection.

Load Respondent Sample

Import the sample records required for the study and make them available
to the appropriate data collection workflow.

Manage Sample Throughout the Project

Review and manage sample as fieldwork progresses, keeping respondent
records associated with the study in which they are being used.

Add Sample During Active Fieldwork

Additional sample can be loaded while a study is actively running,
providing greater flexibility when project requirements change during
fieldwork.

Project Files

Project Setup provides access to the files and resources associated with
a Survox study.

Upload Project Files

Upload questionnaire and supporting project files into the Survox
project environment.

Download Files for Editing

Project files can be downloaded when they need to be reviewed or
modified outside of the Console.

Compile Questionnaire Files

Questionnaire files uploaded through Project Setup can be compiled as
part of the project workflow so they are ready for testing and
deployment.

Survey Logic and Questionnaire Behavior

Survox questionnaires can be configured to respond dynamically to the
answers provided by respondents.

Programming Capability Purpose
Skip and Branch Logic Control which questions respondents see based on previous
responses or project conditions.
Validation Ensure responses meet the requirements defined for a question.
Quotas Track and control participation for defined respondent groups.
Terminate Logic End an interview when a respondent does not qualify or meets
defined termination criteria.
Calculated Values Create or derive values needed for questionnaire logic,
reporting, or project processing.
Page Control Determine how questions are grouped and displayed during
Web interviewing.

Test Before You Deploy

Testing is an important part of the Survox project workflow. Projects
can be placed into test mode so the questionnaire and project
configuration can be reviewed before live data collection begins.

Test Questionnaire Flow

Confirm that questions appear in the correct order and that branching
and skip logic behave as expected.

Verify Responses and Validation

Check response lists, required questions, validation rules, and other
question behavior.

Review Quotas and Terminations

Verify that qualification criteria, quota behavior, and termination
conditions operate correctly.

Test the Respondent Experience

For Web projects, review page presentation and navigation from the
respondent’s perspective before making the study live.

Program Once for Multiple Collection Modes

Survox projects can support Web, phone, and mixed-mode interviewing,
allowing a single project environment to support multiple data
collection workflows.

Web Surveys

Deploy questionnaires for respondents to complete through a
Web-based survey experience.

Phone Interviewing

Use the same project environment for interviewer-assisted data
collection through CATI.

Mixed-Mode Projects

Combine Web and phone interviewing within the same study while keeping
questionnaire logic, sample, and collected data connected to the
same project.
